UEFA has issued a series of disciplinary sanctions against four clubs following incidents during recent Champions League, Europa League and Conference League matches.
The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) announced its latest decisions on September 5, with Fenerbahçe SK, Olympique Lyonnais, FK Crvena zvezda and FK Borac Banja Luka all facing fines or restrictions on supporter attendance.
Fenerbahçe and Lyon punished after Champions League clash
The heaviest collection of sanctions followed the Champions League meeting between Olympique Lyonnais and Fenerbahçe, which the Turkish side won 2-1 on August 26.
Fenerbahçe were fined a combined €95,000 for incidents involving pyrotechnics, thrown objects, crowd disturbances and violations of UEFA's general and basic rules of conduct.
The club received a €30,000 fine for the lighting and throwing of pyrotechnics, €15,000 for crowd disturbances and a further €50,000 over the team's conduct.
There were also individual punishments for two Fenerbahçe players.
Matteo Guendouzi was fined €50,000 and suspended for four UEFA club competition matches after being found guilty of insulting people present at the match, provoking spectators and violating basic rules of decent conduct.
Two of Guendouzi's four-match suspension is suspended for a one-year probationary period.
Mason Greenwood was fined €30,000 and handed a one-match UEFA club competition suspension, with that suspension also subject to a one-year probationary period.
Lyon were also sanctioned for incidents during the match.
The French club was fined €48,000 for throwing objects, €5,500 for pyrotechnics, €5,000 for crowd disturbances and €50,000 for violations of the general and basic rules of conduct.
Lyon goalkeeper coach Antonio Ferreira received a five-match UEFA club competition suspension for serious assault. Two of those matches are suspended for a one-year probationary period.
Crvena zvezda handed away-fan ban
FK Crvena zvezda received particularly significant sanctions following their 5-1 Europa League defeat to Viktoria Plzeň on August 27.
The CEDB ordered the enforcement of a previously suspended sanction imposed in April 2025, meaning Crvena zvezda will be banned from selling tickets to away supporters for their next UEFA club competition match.
The club was also fined €40,000 for racist and/or discriminatory behaviour by its supporters and received an additional full restriction on selling tickets to supporters for another UEFA away match.
That additional restriction is suspended for two years, meaning it will only be activated if the club commits another relevant offence during the probationary period.
Crvena zvezda were further fined €50,000 over chants deemed unfit for a sporting event and €8,250 for improper conduct by the team.
Player Osman Bukari was separately suspended for three UEFA club competition matches for assaulting another player.
Borac face stadium closure
FK Borac Banja Luka were also punished over racist and/or discriminatory behaviour by their supporters during their 3-1 Conference League victory over Víkingur Reykjavík.
The CEDB ordered the enforcement of a previously suspended sanction from February 2025, requiring 500 adjacent seats in the East Stand to be closed for Borac's next UEFA home match.
The Bosnian club was also fined €30,000 and handed an additional partial stadium closure covering 800 adjacent seats in the East Stand for another UEFA home match.
That second closure has been suspended for a two-year probationary period.
Borac were additionally fined €4,000 for improper conduct by their team and €3,500 for pyrotechnics.
Staff member Bogoljub Zeljkovic was fined €2,000 for insulting and/or directing abusive language at a match official.
The latest UEFA rulings underline the governing body's continued use of financial penalties, player and staff suspensions, away-ticket restrictions and stadium closures in response to supporter misconduct, discriminatory behaviour and incidents involving players and team officials.
