Fenerbahçe have said their three-window FIFA transfer ban is temporary and will be lifted once the club settles an outstanding payment linked to the transfer of Youssef En-Nesyri.
The Turkish club said the sanction relates to an unpaid instalment dated April 30, 2026, concerning En-Nesyri's move to Fenerbahçe during the 2024-25 season.
According to Fenerbahçe, the player took the matter to FIFA after the payment deadline was missed. The club said its management subsequently paid the delayed instalment after taking office, but a further payment was requested following proceedings involving the player's former club and FIFA.
Fenerbahçe said it is required to comply with the resulting FIFA decision and will make the outstanding payment on Monday, September 28, the first working day following the announcement.
The club expects the transfer ban to be lifted once the necessary administrative procedures with FIFA have been completed.
The sanction comes as Fenerbahçe prepare to hold their Ordinary General Assembly on September 27. The club said all financial statements and obligations relating to the previous period will be presented transparently to congress members and the public at the meeting.
En-Nesyri joined Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2024 after completing his move from Sevilla. The striker had previously established himself as one of the leading forwards in Spanish football and had also represented Morocco internationally.
Fenerbahçe's statement did not disclose the amount of the payment required under the FIFA decision, but the club maintained that the transfer restriction is temporary and expects the matter to be resolved following Monday's payment.
