Major League Soccer has announced its latest disciplinary and player availability updates ahead of the August 29 schedule, with 10 players suspended for the upcoming round of fixtures.
The suspensions cover a range of disciplinary offences, including yellow-card accumulation, red cards and a late-kickoff violation.
Atlanta United's Elias Báez will miss the club's August 29 meeting with Charlotte FC after reaching the yellow-card accumulation threshold. D.C. United's Silvan Hefti and Houston Dynamo's Lucas Halter are also suspended for the same reason against LAFC and San Jose Earthquakes respectively.
LA Galaxy will be without James Marcinkowski and Lucas Sanabria for their trip to San Diego FC. Marcinkowski is suspended following a red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, while Sanabria has reached the yellow-card accumulation limit.
Inter Miami will also be missing Guillermo Hoyos, who has been suspended for a late-kickoff violation, while CF Montréal's Brayan Ceballos is suspended through yellow-card accumulation for the same fixture.
Portland Timbers forward Vincent Janssen will sit out against Austin FC after receiving a red card for a second caution. Seattle Sounders' Peter Kingston and San Jose's Benjamin Kikanovic complete the list of players suspended through yellow-card accumulation.
Extensive injury list
Inter Miami have one of the most notable injury lists, with Tadeo Allende, Gonzalo Lujan, Micael, Santi Morales, Mateo Silvetti and Sergio Reguilón all ruled out. Atlanta United are missing Luke Brennan and Jay Fortune through injury, while Breel Embolo and Mauricio Amaro are unavailable for non-injury reasons.
New York City FC face a particularly challenging situation, with eight players listed as out, including Talles Magno, Alonso Martínez, Maxi Moralez, Aiden O'Neill, Kai Trewin and Hannes Wolf.
LAFC have six players unavailable, including Thomas Hasal, Igor Jesus, David Martínez, Sergi Palencia, Jacob Shaffelburg and Timothy Tillman.
Other teams with lengthy injury lists include Real Salt Lake, Seattle Sounders, San Jose Earthquakes, Portland Timbers, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Several players remain questionable heading into the weekend. D.C. United have Tai Baribo and Kye Rowles listed as doubtful, while Houston's Marcelo Saracchi, Sporting Kansas City's Zorhan Bassong, Orlando City's Adrián Marín and Martín Ojeda, Philadelphia Union's Alejandro Bedoya, and Seattle's Paul Arriola are also questionable.
Players one booking away from suspension
MLS has also issued its latest caution accumulation warnings, with dozens of players sitting one yellow card away from a suspension or fine.
Among those at risk are Evander and Matt Miazga of FC Cincinnati, Rafael Navarro and Reggie Cannon of Colorado Rapids, Daniel Lovitz of Nashville SC, Kamal Miller of Portland Timbers, Chris McVey of San Diego FC, Walker Zimmerman and Jonathan Osorio of Toronto FC, and Andrés Cubas of Vancouver Whitecaps.
Other notable names on the list include Ashley Westwood, Joel Waterman, Tayvon Gray, Morgan Guilavogui and Richie Laryea.
The disciplinary updates come as clubs prepare for the latest round of MLS fixtures, with several teams facing the challenge of managing suspensions alongside significant injury absences.
