Lecce have been handed a combined €20,000 in fines following the second matchday of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season, with the club punished for incidents involving supporters and a delay to the start of their match against Roma.
Lecce were fined €10,000 after their supporters threw two smoke bombs onto the pitch in the 10th minute of the first half, forcing referee to temporarily suspend the match for approximately one minute.
The club's supporters also threw a firecracker and several additional smoke bombs into the playing area during the game. The sanction was reduced under Article 29 of the Sporting Justice Code.
Lecce received a further €10,000 fine for objective liability after the club unjustifiably delayed the start of the match by approximately six minutes while equipment issues involving Lecce players were resolved. The delay was extended because two players did not initially comply with the request to correct their equipment.
The match ultimately ended in a 4-0 victory for Roma.
Elsewhere, Como were fined €5,000 for causing an unjustified two-minute delay during both the first and second halves, while Bologna were fined €2,000 for delaying the start of the second half by approximately one minute.
Despite widespread use of pyrotechnics during the second matchday, no sanctions were imposed on supporters of Atalanta, Cagliari, Lecce, Milan, Napoli and Udinese for their use of firecrackers, smoke bombs and flares within their respective sections.
The Sports Judge noted that the circumstances outlined in Article 29 of the Sporting Justice Code applied to those clubs, allowing sanctions to be avoided in relation to the general use of pyrotechnics. Lecce were nevertheless punished separately because two smoke bombs were thrown onto the pitch and caused the match to be stopped.
Players and coaches sanctioned
A number of players also received disciplinary sanctions.
Enrico Delprato of Parma was cautioned and fined €1,500 for protesting against match officials, with the punishment aggravated because he was Parma's captain.
Two players, Lorenzo Lucchesi of Monza and Leo Skiri Ostigard of Genoa, received their second cautions of the season for unsporting behaviour towards an opponent.
A further 19 players were handed their first caution for unsporting behaviour, including Manuel Akanji, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Nemanja Matić, Manuel Locatelli, Strahinja Pavlović and Cristian Volpato.
Eight players were also cautioned for non-regulatory behaviour on the pitch. Gabriele Calvani of Frosinone received his second sanction in this category, while Alexsandro Amorim de Freitas, Gabriele Bracaglia, Albert Guðmundsson, Ivan Ilić, Alejandro Jimenez Sanchez, Nikola Krstović, Donyell Malen and Mattia Zaccagni were all cautioned for the first time.
Among the coaches, Daniele De Rossi (Genoa), Fabio Grosso (Fiorentina) and Domenico Tedesco (Bologna) were each cautioned for the first time this season.
The fines imposed by the Sports Judge will be charged to the respective clubs' league accounts.
