Serie A has issued its first round of disciplinary decisions for the 2026/27 season, with Bologna receiving the largest fine following incidents during the opening weekend.
Bologna were fined €12,000 after their supporters directed a laser beam towards opposing players during their 1-0 defeat to Lazio. Fans also threw three smoke bombs, a water bottle and several cups into the playing area.
Atalanta were handed a €10,000 fine after seven smoke bombs were thrown onto the pitch during their 2-1 victory over Sassuolo. The incident forced the referee to suspend play for approximately two minutes while the pyrotechnics were removed.
Venezia were fined €4,000 after one of their supporters' smoke bombs landed on the pitch during their 2-0 defeat to Lecce, causing play to be temporarily stopped.
Como received a €3,000 fine for unjustifiably causing a two-minute delay to the start of the second half, while Frosinone were fined the same amount after their supporters repeatedly directed offensive chants at an opposing player.
The Sports Judge also imposed a number of disciplinary measures on players following the opening round.
Among those booked for protesting against match officials were Genoa's Leo Skiri Ostigard and Stefano Sabelli, alongside Fiorentina's Mateo Pellegrino Casalanguida.
A further 27 players received cautions for unsporting behaviour towards an opponent, including Hakan Calhanoglu, Lautaro Martinez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andrea Cambiaso, Nicolò Fagioli, Matteo Politano and Jens Odgaard.
Lazio's Boulaye Dia, Bologna's Oussama El Azzouzi and Udinese's Unai Gómez Etxebarria were also cautioned for non-regulatory behaviour on the field.
There were two suspensions involving club staff.
Bologna assistant coach Andrea Tarozzi was handed a one-match suspension after vehemently contesting a refereeing decision in the 44th minute of the first half against Lazio. The incident was reported by the Fourth Official.
Genoa official Diego Javier Lopez Gomez received a suspension running until September 8, 2026, following an incident after Genoa's match against Napoli.
Lopez Gomez, who was not included on the match team sheet, entered the pitch without authorisation after the final whistle and repeatedly contested a refereeing decision in an aggressive manner. According to the ruling, he continued his protests in the dressing-room area and prevented the referee from closing the door to his dressing room for several moments.
Despite the various pyrotechnic incidents recorded during the opening weekend, the Sports Judge opted not to impose further sanctions on Atalanta, Bologna, Frosinone, Genoa, Inter, Lazio, Milan, Napoli, Roma, Torino and Udinese for their supporters' use of pyrotechnics.
The decision noted that the clubs benefited from the mitigating circumstances outlined under Article 29 of the Italian Sports Justice Code.
