Paris Saint-Germain were caught up in a security incident in Bilbao after their Champions League match against Athletic Bilbao when their team coach was damaged in an overnight attack near the squad’s hotel.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday while the bus was parked and not carrying any players or staff. According to media reports, stones were thrown at the vehicle, leaving two visible cracks in the coach’s windows, and police later detained two individuals in connection with the incident.

Despite the attack, PSG’s players and officials were able to leave the hotel without disruption and travelled to Bilbao airport as scheduled for their return flight to Paris later that morning.
The match itself, played on Wednesday night, ended in a goalless draw. The result saw the reigning European champions sit third in the 36-team qualifying league, while Athletic Bilbao remain down in 28th place.
In the aftermath of the incident, the French club are weighing up whether to formally raise the matter with UEFA, European football’s governing body, a source close to the club told AFP on Thursday.
