Club Atlético Osasuna has confirmed it will open an internal investigation following incidents that occurred after their victory over Real Madrid at El Sadar stadium.
In an official statement released shortly after the match, the club expressed regret over the scenes that unfolded inside the stadium after the final whistle. Osasuna acknowledged the panic that arose and the impact on members who were leaving the ground celebrating what had been described as a “great victory” over the Spanish giants.

The unrest stemmed from an incident during the match in which a supporter allegedly threw a small bottle onto the pitch toward Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Courtois reportedly handed the object to the referee, who informed Osasuna’s match delegate. An announcement was subsequently made over the public address system.
After the final whistle, Osasuna’s private security personnel attempted to identify the individual responsible in the South Stand. According to local reports, tensions escalated when security approached supporters in the area, leading to a disturbance.
The National Police intervened, charging at some Osasuna fans who remained inside the stadium. The situation resulted in two arrests.
Osasuna stated that it “regrets the scenes witnessed” and the distress caused to supporters. The club emphasized its intention to clarify what happened and review the sequence of events, both during and after the match.
While condemning inappropriate behaviour, the club also acknowledged the broader context of what had otherwise been a celebratory evening for home supporters.

On the pitch, Osasuna secured a significant result against the LaLiga leaders. Real Madrid’s eight-match winning streak in LaLiga came to an end at El Sadar.
The contest began evenly, with Madrid dominating possession but struggling to break through Osasuna’s disciplined defensive structure. The home side capitalised on their opportunities and ultimately held firm to claim a memorable victory.
Further updates are expected once Osasuna concludes its internal investigation.
