Bologna Coach Handed Two-Match Ban As Serie A Disciplinary Decisions Released

Bologna coach Domenico Tedesco has been suspended for two matches and fined €5,000 following the latest round of Serie A disciplinary decisions.

Tedesco was sent off during Bologna's 2-2 draw with Sassuolo and was subsequently punished for directing a seriously disrespectful expression towards the match official after his dismissal in the 49th minute of the second half. The disciplinary report stated that he repeated the behaviour in the dressing-room area after the match.

Bologna were also fined €1,500 after their supporters threw a smoke bomb into the playing area during the 22nd minute. Genoa received the same fine after a plastic bottle was thrown onto the pitch by one of their supporters in the 40th minute.

The Sports Judge also imposed fines on three clubs for delays to kick-off. Venezia were fined €4,000 for causing a delay of around three minutes to the start of the first half, while Milan were fined €3,000 for a delay of approximately two minutes before the second half. Roma received a €2,000 fine for delaying the beginning of the first half by around one minute.

Lautaro Martinez was fined €1,500 and cautioned for protesting against match officials, with the sanction aggravated because he was Inter captain. Venezia captain Gianluca Busio received the same fine and a caution for a similar offence.

Atalanta's Gianluca Gaetano received the heaviest player punishment, serving a one-match suspension and paying a €10,000 fine after directing a seriously disrespectful expression towards the referee at the end of the match.

Genoa's Leo Ostigard picked up his third caution of the season, while Como's Martin Baturina, Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova, Bologna's Emil Holm, Lazio's Gustav Isaksen and Venezia's Simon Sohm received their first disciplinary cautions for protesting against officials.

A further 16 players were cautioned for unsporting conduct towards opponents, while 10 players received cautions for non-regulatory conduct on the field.

Bologna also received another disciplinary blow off the pitch, with club president Joey Saputo banned from all football activities until September 30. Saputo was sanctioned for directing a seriously offensive expression towards match officials on the pitch after the game and repeating the behaviour in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms.

Despite several incidents involving supporters and pyrotechnics, the Sports Judge opted not to impose sanctions on Bologna, Como, Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter, Lazio, Parma, Roma or Udinese for the use of pyrotechnic material by their supporters. The decision cited mitigating circumstances under Article 29 of the Sports Justice Code.
