Samsunspor and Fenerbahçe S.K. have traded public statements following a tense encounter, with the two clubs disputing refereeing decisions, allegations of misconduct and the behaviour of supporters after the match.
In a statement released after the game, Samsunspor said a match that was expected to be an enjoyable evening of football was overshadowed by controversial refereeing decisions that it believes affected the course of the contest.
The club pointed to an early incident involving Fenerbahçe midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, claiming his challenge on a Samsunspor player’s ankle warranted a direct red card but went unpunished by the referee.
Samsunspor also highlighted another moment involving defender Jayden Oosterwolde, alleging he grabbed one of their players by the throat and brought him to the ground without receiving any disciplinary sanction.

The club argued that such incidents being ignored damages the sense of fairness in Turkish football and said public debate had also emerged over potential offside decisions related to goals scored by the opposition.
Beyond the on-field issues, Samsunspor said that in the closing minutes of the match several opposing supporters directed heavy insults toward club president Yüksel Yıldırım, attempted to attack him and threw objects in his direction.
While describing the individuals involved as isolated cases, the club stressed that the seriousness of the incidents should not be downplayed and called for action against those responsible. Samsunspor also urged the Turkish Football Federation to investigate both the refereeing decisions and the crowd incidents.
In a separate statement, Samsunspor said its legal team was monitoring what it described as systematic insults, defamation and threats directed at Yıldırım on social media, adding that legal proceedings would be initiated against those responsible.
Fenerbahçe responded with a statement of its own, rejecting accusations made by the Samsunspor president following the match.
The Istanbul club said claims that their players had physically intervened with the referee were “completely untrue” and described the allegations as baseless.

Fenerbahçe also said its president Sadettin Saran went to the area of the stands where tensions were rising after the match in an effort to calm the situation and prevent further escalation.
According to the club, Saran’s presence was not intended to support any individual or group but rather to help defuse tensions among supporters.
Fenerbahçe further criticised Yıldırım for what it described as a pattern of provocative remarks before and after matches involving the two clubs, suggesting such rhetoric contributes to the hostile atmosphere surrounding the fixture.
The club concluded by stating it would continue to oppose what it called provocative statements targeting its community and would not allow false claims to mislead the public.
The exchange of statements highlights the growing tension between the two sides and adds to ongoing debates surrounding refereeing standards and conduct in Turkish football.
