Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they are offering support to defender Destiny Udogie following an incident in which the Italy international was allegedly threatened with a gun by a football agent.
The Metropolitan Police are investigating the alleged confrontation, which took place in north London on 6 September. Officers were called to Cockfosters Parade in Barnet at 11:14 p.m. after reports that a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm.
According to police, another man was also allegedly blackmailed and threatened by the same suspect during the incident. No injuries were reported.
A police spokesperson said:
“Officers spoke to the victim and, during the course of their investigation, it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident."
“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.”

Spurs addressed the situation in a statement on Tuesday, saying:
“We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”
The 22-year-old defender was reportedly out with a friend when the alleged threat occurred. The agent involved is not believed to represent Udogie. He was detained by police on suspicion of brandishing a weapon with intent to cause fear of violence and of blackmailing Udogie’s companion, though he has not been charged.
The incident happened during the September international break, when Udogie was not on duty with the Italian national team. The player resumed action for Tottenham in their next match, a league victory over West Ham on 13 September, coming on as a substitute.
Udogie, who joined Spurs from Udinese in 2022 for £15 million before spending a season on loan back at the Serie A side, has since established himself as a first-team regular. He started in Tottenham’s 4–0 Champions League win over Copenhagen on Tuesday, hours after reports of his involvement in the September incident first surfaced in Italy.
The Metropolitan Police investigation remains ongoing.
