Sheffield United have parted company with head coach Rubén Sellés following a disastrous start to the Championship season that has seen the team lose every match so far.
The 42-year-old Spaniard, who took charge in June after replacing Chris Wilder, oversaw six straight defeats in all competitions, culminating in a 5-0 thrashing at Ipswich on Friday night. That result left the Blades bottom of the table without a point and with just one league goal scored.
A club statement confirmed the decision, citing both results and supporter sentiment: "Following a review of recent performances, and taking into account the feelings of supporters, the timing of the change has been made to give the club the best possible opportunity to improve the current league position."
After a disappointing start to the EFL Championship campaign, Rubén Sellés has been relieved of his duties as manager.

The board of directors wish to thank Mr Sellés for his hard work.
The statement added: "The board of directors wish to thank Mr Sellés for his hard work. A new manager will be named in due course."
Sellés, formerly of Hull and Reading, arrived at Bramall Lane weeks after United lost the Championship play-off final to Sunderland in May. Despite optimism at his appointment, the Blades failed to score in four of their league fixtures and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle by Birmingham City.
An announcement on Sellés’ successor is expected soon, with the Blades next in action at home to Charlton on Saturday.
