The Serie A Sports Judge has released Official Notice No. 89 following the completion of Matchday 16 of the 2025/26 ENILIVE Serie A season, confirming results from the weekend of 20–21 December and outlining a series of disciplinary measures for clubs, players and staff.
Six matches were played across the round, with Fiorentina recording the most emphatic victory in a 5–1 win over Udinese. Juventus edged Roma 2–1 in one of the standout fixtures, while Atalanta claimed a narrow 1–0 away victory against Genoa. Cagliari and Pisa shared a 2–2 draw, Lazio were held to a goalless stalemate by Cremonese, and Torino secured a 1–0 win away at Sassuolo.
Following the fixtures, Sports Judge Dr Gerardo Mastrandrea reviewed official match reports and issued several sanctions. Fiorentina were fined €10,000 after their supporters threw firecrackers and smoke bombs onto the pitch during the first half, damaging a goal net and causing a brief suspension of play. Genoa were fined €5,000 for objects thrown onto the field late in their match, while Cremonese (€3,000) and Sassuolo (€2,000) were fined for unjustifiably delaying the start of the first and second halves respectively. No further sanctions were imposed on Cagliari, Fiorentina, Genoa and Udinese in relation to the use of pyrotechnics, as mitigating circumstances were recognised.

Three players received one-match suspensions after being sent off for denying clear goal-scoring opportunities: Federico Ceccherini (Cremonese), Nicola Leali (Genoa) and Emil Maduka Okoye (Udinese). Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and Fiorentina defender Luca Ranieri were also suspended for one match after collecting their fifth caution of the season.
A long list of players were cautioned during the round, including Roma’s Bryan Cristante, Cagliari’s Sebastiano Esposito and Cremonese’s Giuseppe Pezzella, who were all placed on warning after receiving their fourth booking. Genoa midfielder Morten Thorsby was additionally fined €2,000 for simulation in the penalty area.
Disciplinary action also extended to the benches. Genoa staff member Alessio Scarpi was handed a one-match suspension after being sent off for making a disrespectful remark towards the referee, while Atalanta head coach Raffaele Palladino received a caution. Genoa medical staff member Pietro Cistaro was also suspended for one match following an incident with the referee after the final whistle.
All fines will be charged directly to the Serie A league accounts of the respective clubs, as the league continues its strict enforcement of disciplinary regulations midway through the season.
