Several Serie A clubs have been hit with financial penalties following disciplinary decisions from Italy’s Sports Judge, Dr. Gerardo Mastrandrea, relating to supporter behaviour during the eleventh round of the Enilive Serie A season.
A statement from the league confirmed that supporters from Atalanta, Fiorentina, Genoa, Lecce, Milan, Parma, and Pisa were found to have used pyrotechnic materials, including “firecrackers, smoke bombs, and flares”, during their matches, in violation of Article 25, paragraph 3 of the Sports Justice Code (CGS).
However, given mitigating factors outlined under Article 29, paragraph 1, letters a), b), and d) of the CGS, the Sports Judge ruled that no sanctions would be imposed on those clubs regarding these incidents.
Three clubs, however, did receive financial penalties for separate supporter-related offences:
All fines “will be charged to the LNPA championship account of the respective clubs,” the statement confirmed.
A wide range of player disciplinary actions were also listed, primarily involving cautions for dissent, unsporting behaviour, and improper conduct.
Two captains received the heaviest penalties for dissent towards match officials:
Both were given a caution and a fine of €1,500 for protesting against refereeing decisions, with the penalties “increased as team captain.”
Further cautions were issued for various offences, including unsporting behaviour towards opponents and improper conduct on the field. Among the notable names cautioned:
In the improper conduct category, Arijanet Anan Murić (Sassuolo) and Matteo Prati (Cagliari) were cautioned for their second offence, while Rasmus Højlund (Napoli) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (Roma) were cautioned for the first time.
Two managers, Maurizio Sarri (Lazio) and Paolo Vanoli (Fiorentina), were formally cautioned for the first time.
Meanwhile, Milan’s medical staff member Diego Mantovani was sent off and handed a one-match suspension “for vehemently protesting a referee’s decision in the 86th minute of the second half.”
The league reiterated it's stance on maintaining order and discipline both on and off the field, signalling a continued crackdown on fan disturbances and player misconduct as Serie A’s first half of the season approaches its midpoint.
