Paris Saint-Germain have been ordered to pay Kylian Mbappé €60 million (£52.6m) after a ruling by a French labour court in favour of the France forward.
The 26-year-old, who spent seven seasons at PSG between 2017 and 2024, had taken the Ligue 1 club to court over earnings he claimed were unlawfully withheld during the final months of his contract. The dispute centred on unpaid wages from April to June last year, as well as two separate bonus payments.
The court found that PSG failed to pay Mbappé’s salary for three months and did not honour the agreed bonuses. Crucially, judges ruled there was no written agreement showing that Mbappé had waived his entitlement to those payments, undermining the club’s position.
Mbappé’s lawyer, Frédérique Cassereau, welcomed the decision, describing it as a clear-cut case. “We are satisfied with the ruling. This is what you could expect when salaries went unpaid,” she said.
PSG are expected to appeal the verdict, which represents a significant legal setback for the club following Mbappé’s high-profile departure at the end of last season. The case adds to ongoing scrutiny of player contracts and wage disputes at the top level of European football.
