Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe have been placed on the transfer list by Marseille after a heated altercation followed last week’s defeat at Rennes.
The French club confirmed the disciplinary action in an official statement, citing “unacceptable behaviour” from both players after the 1-0 Ligue 1 loss. The match had seen Rennes reduced to ten men inside the first half-hour, but Marseille still left Roazhon Park empty-handed after Ludovic Blas netted a late winner.
Rowe, 22, was substituted in the 63rd minute, while Rabiot, 30, completed the full game. According to reports, tensions flared in the dressing room shortly after the final whistle, with the pair said to have clashed in front of teammates. Some outlets even suggested the dispute became physical.
Marseille’s statement read: "Olympique de Marseille announces that Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe have been placed on the transfer list by the club. This decision was taken due to unacceptable behaviour in the dressing room after the match against Stade Rennais FC, in agreement with the technical staff and in accordance with the club's internal code of conduct. The decision was communicated to the two players by the club on Monday."
Both players have since been suspended from first-team duties and are expected to miss this weekend’s clash against newly promoted Paris FC at the Stade Vélodrome.

Rowe, who joined permanently from Norwich in a £17m deal last summer after a successful loan spell, was one of England’s standout performers at the Under-21 European Championship, even scoring the decisive goal in the final against Germany. His inconsistent display at Rennes, however, reportedly frustrated several teammates and contributed to the fallout.
Rabiot, capped 53 times for France and formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus, arrived on a free transfer last September. He has made 32 appearances for Marseille, scoring ten goals.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi did not hide his anger after the defeat and subsequent confrontation. "The others beat us on the pitch, and we come in here and fight among ourselves,” he said.
Rowe is now being linked with a potential move to Serie A, with Roma and Bologna both reported to hold interest in the winger. For Rabiot, the Rennes defeat could prove to have been his final outing in a Marseille shirt.
