Liverpool’s injury list continues to grow as the Reds prepare for a crucial Premier League meeting with Manchester City this weekend, with several first-team players unavailable and others racing against time to prove their fitness.
Midfielder Stefan Bajcetic remains sidelined and is yet to feature during the 2025-26 season after a prolonged injury lay-off. Speaking last week, head coach Arne Slot stressed the need for patience, explaining that the Spaniard has suffered minor setbacks during his recovery and has not trained consistently with the first team for several months.
Defender Conor Bradley has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a serious knee injury in January’s clash with Arsenal. The Northern Ireland international has already undergone surgery and has begun his rehabilitation, describing the injury as a “big blow” but expressing optimism about his recovery.
Young forward Jayden Danns is also unavailable after failing to regain fitness in time for recent matches. Slot confirmed the teenager is not yet training and is not expected to return in the immediate future.
Jeremie Frimpong is another definite absentee for the Manchester City match after suffering a muscle injury early in Liverpool’s Champions League fixture against Qarabag. Slot confirmed on Wednesday that the Dutch international will not train this week and will miss the weekend’s game.

There is some cautious optimism surrounding Joe Gomez, who was forced off during the Premier League defeat at Bournemouth and has missed the subsequent fixtures. While Gomez is not expected to start against City, Slot suggested he could be available from the bench if he manages to train late in the week, with Liverpool currently short of defensive options.
Forward Alexander Isak is facing an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury that included a fractured fibula. The injury was sustained in December, and Slot recently confirmed that the striker has not yet returned to on-pitch work. However, the Liverpool boss remains confident Isak will feature again before the end of the season.
Meanwhile, young defender Giovanni Leoni is not expected to play again this campaign after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during his senior debut in the Carabao Cup in September. Slot previously described the injury as “very hard to take” for the teenager but highlighted his age as a key factor in his long-term recovery.
Liverpool currently have no players suspended as they head into the high-profile weekend fixture.
