Thomas Frank called out sections of the Tottenham fanbase after Guglielmo Vicario was subjected to boos during Spurs’ 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, a reaction the manager labelled “unacceptable” given the circumstances surrounding the goalkeeper’s costly early mistake.
Spurs found themselves in deep trouble almost immediately, conceding twice inside six minutes. Kenny Tete’s deflected opener was followed by a disastrous moment for Vicario, whose attempted clearance was charged down by Josh King. The loose ball ran to Harry Wilson, who lofted it calmly into an empty net with the Italian stranded.
While Mohammed Kudus pulled one back after the break and Spurs improved significantly, the early damage proved decisive as Tottenham slumped to yet another home league loss, their fourth of the campaign.
Vicario was met with boos the moment play resumed, and the discontent continued whenever he touched the ball. Frank accepted supporters’ frustration at full-time but took issue with the in-game criticism directed at his goalkeeper.
He told Sky Sports: "When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb."

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to go against you as well, the first was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from Vic [Guglielmo Vicario]."
"I didn't like that our fans booed at him straight after and a few times after that. They can't be true Tottenham fans because everyone supports each other when you're on the pitch, and we do everything we can to perform."
"I'm fine with them booing after the match, no problem, but not during. That is unacceptable in my opinion."
"It is OK that they are frustrated, because we haven't won at home for a long time, we all badly want to win, so I'm fine with them booing after the game, but during the game I hope it was one incident, and it never happens again."
The defeat leaves Spurs in 10th place, with the possibility of dropping further once Liverpool and Manchester United play later in the weekend. It also capped a bruising week in which Tottenham fell 4-1 to Arsenal and were beaten 5-3 by Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League thriller.
