Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has filed a lawsuit against the club, claiming they provided negligent medical advice during his time at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old, who signed for Burnley earlier this month, submitted the legal complaint to the High Court last Wednesday. The case, titled "Tuanzebe v Manchester United Football Club Limited," is categorised under “Clinical Negligence – Part 7 Claim – Medical Advice.”
The alleged negligence is linked to an injury dating back to around July 2022 and is said to be a high-value claim, reportedly worth more than £1 million.

Tuanzebe spent over 190 days sidelined due to injury in his final season with United before being loaned out to Stoke City in January 2023. During his short spell there, he made only five appearances. By the summer, he was released by the club and later joined Ipswich Town as a free agent in September.
The defender’s career at United was frequently disrupted by injuries. Having joined the club’s academy aged just eight, he made his senior debut in a 4-0 FA Cup win over West Ham in 2017. Over six years, he clocked only 37 first-team appearances, hampered by repeated setbacks including hip and foot injuries, as well as long layoffs during the 2022/23 season.
Tuanzebe, now representing DR Congo internationally, is continuing his career with Burnley while the legal battle with his boyhood club unfolds.
