Birmingham City and Ipswich Town are facing disciplinary action from the Football Association after a heated ending to their Championship clash on Friday, 8 August.
Both clubs have been charged with breaching FA Rule E20.1, with the governing body alleging they failed to control their players in the aftermath of a stoppage-time penalty at St Andrew’s.

The confrontation began when referee Andrew Kitchen awarded Ipswich a late spot-kick after the ball struck Lyndon Dykes’ arm from a corner. Birmingham had been leading through Jay Stansfield’s second-half strike, but George Hirst converted the penalty to level the score at 1-1.
Tempers flared both before and after the goal, with pushing and shoving breaking out among players from both sides. Ipswich forward Conor Chaplin was shown a yellow card as tensions continued into the closing moments.
In a statement, the FA confirmed: the clubs were alleged to have "failed to ensure their players didn't behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute". They added: "They have until Friday, August 15th to reply."
The Club has issued the following update about supporter behaviour.

The incident came on an already fractious evening, with Birmingham later condemning what it described as "violent and anti-social behaviour" in a separate statement. The club also confirmed it was assisting West Midlands Police with their investigation after a supporter was reported to have been involved in the stoppage-time altercation.
Both Birmingham and Ipswich will now have to respond to the FA charge before the set deadline.
