Liverpool are facing fresh injury concerns after Wataru Endo was stretchered off during Tuesday’s win at Sunderland, compounding an already lengthy absentee list for Arne Slot’s side.
The midfielder suffered what the head coach described as a potentially serious foot injury in the second half of the February 11 fixture. While the full extent of the damage is yet to be confirmed, Slot admitted the early signs are worrying.
“It’s a serious one. How serious we don’t know yet because it still has to be assessed tomorrow, but it doesn’t look good,” Slot said post-match. “It’s his foot, but if it is his ankle or his foot, that is what we have to assess tomorrow. I assume he will be out for a long, long time. What is long, it is difficult to say at this moment.”
Conor Bradley has already been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign after sustaining a significant knee injury against Arsenal on January 8. The Northern Ireland international underwent surgery shortly after and has begun rehabilitation.
“A big blow but surgery is done so the comeback starts now,” Bradley said on January 14. “It won’t be for a little while but I already can’t wait to get back playing for Liverpool FC and Northern Ireland.”
Stefan Bajcetic is yet to feature this season as he continues to battle a long-term injury setback. Slot revealed at the end of January that the Spaniard has struggled to build consistent momentum in his recovery.
“He’s not training yet. So, he constantly gets close to the team and then he has a little setback,” Slot explained. “As much as I’d like to have him back, we have to manage the expectations with him as well.”
Jayden Danns is also unavailable and not currently training. Slot confirmed on January 30 that the youngster would have been in the squad if fit but is not expected to return imminently.
Arne Slot believes Wataru Endo suffered a 'serious' injury during our 1-0 win over Sunderland, but the Japan international requires further assessment to determine the extent of the damage.

Jeremie Frimpong is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury early in the Champions League clash with Qarabag. Slot confirmed on February 8 that the issue would keep the No.30 out for “a few weeks.”
Meanwhile, Alexander Isak remains in recovery following ankle surgery on December 22 after fracturing his fibula while scoring against Tottenham Hotspur. Slot recently revealed the forward has only just come out of a protective walking boot and has yet to resume pitch work.
“He’s not even on the pitch yet,” the Liverpool boss said. “That’s going to take a while before he’s back, as we knew.”
However, Slot has previously expressed confidence that Isak will return before the end of the current campaign.
Defender Giovanni Leoni is not expected to feature again this season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during his debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup in September 2025. The 19-year-old faces approximately a year on the sidelines.
“He tore his ACL and it means he will be out for a year,” Slot said at the time. “Being so young and coming to a new country and playing so well in your first game… it’s very hard.”
Despite their injury troubles, Liverpool currently have no players suspended.
With a packed schedule ahead, Slot will hope for positive news on Endo’s assessment and gradual progress from several key players as the Reds continue their push on multiple fronts.
