CAF has handed a stadium ban and fine to Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o Fils following misconduct during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
Sources believe the misconduct relates to angry protests and gestures in response to refereeing decisions, made by the former Barcelona forward from the stands.
In a statement released on Thursday, the CAF Disciplinary Board confirmed that Eto’o was charged and found guilty of breaching the principles of sportsmanship during Cameroon’s tournament fixture against Morocco in Rabat on 9 January 2026. The former Cameroon international was deemed to have violated Article 2(3) of the CAF Statutes as well as Article 82 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
As a result, the Disciplinary Board imposed a stadium ban on Eto’o for the next four official CAF matches played as part of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. The sanction means the FECAFOOT president will be barred from attending those matches in any official capacity.
In addition to the ban, CAF has also fined Eto’o USD 20,000. The governing body said it would make no further comment on the matter.
