The winners of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will receive a record USD 10 million in prize money, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced.
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe confirmed the figure on Saturday following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco, one day before the tournament kicks off.
The new prize represents a significant increase on previous editions of Africa’s flagship international competition. The winners of the 2023 tournament in Côte d’Ivoire earned USD 7 million, meaning the 2025 champions will receive 43 per cent more.
The rise also underlines the rapid growth in AFCON prize money over the past four years. Winners of the 2021 tournament in Cameroon took home USD 5 million, meaning the top prize has doubled to USD 10 million by the 2025 edition, a 100 per cent increase over the period.

Prize money has also increased across the latter stages of the competition. The runners-up at AFCON Morocco 2025 will receive USD 4 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will each earn USD 2.5 million.
CAF has repeatedly stated that increased prize money is part of its strategy to strengthen African football and ensure that national associations benefit more directly from success at major tournaments.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 gets under way on Sunday, with 24 teams competing for continental honours.
