UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has sanctioned AEK Larnaca FC after racist and discriminatory behavior was reported during their Europa League fixture against Crystal Palace F.C. on 19 March 2026. The match, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Crystal Palace, was marred by illicit chants from AEK Larnaca supporters.
Under Article 14(2) of UEFA’s Disciplinary Regulations, the club was found responsible for failing to prevent racist and discriminatory behavior in its stadium. As a result, UEFA has imposed a fine of €50,000 on AEK Larnaca FC. Additionally, the club must partially close 800 adjacent seats in the South Stand during their next home fixture in a UEFA club competition.

UEFA emphasized that such measures are aimed at upholding the integrity of European football and sending a clear message that racist and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.
The club now faces the challenge of implementing UEFA’s sanctions while preparing for its next European campaign, with fans in the South Stand to be temporarily excluded from attending.
This decision follows UEFA’s ongoing efforts to combat racism and promote inclusivity across European football, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to a safe and respectful environment for all players, officials, and supporters.
