Several Premier League clubs are set to be impacted by suspensions and looming disciplinary bans as the season approaches its decisive stretch, with defenders and midfielders among those most affected.
Under The Football Association (FA) rules, players who accumulate 10 yellow cards before their club’s 32nd league match face a two-match suspension, while red-card bans apply across all domestic competitions, including the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Two players are already ruled out of upcoming fixtures due to disciplinary action. Leeds United defender Gudmundsson will miss Gameweek 31, while Manchester United’s Harry Maguire is suspended for Gameweek 32. Both absences could prove significant as clubs battle for points late in the campaign.

A number of high-profile players are walking a disciplinary tightrope, sitting just one booking away from a two-match ban.
Brighton & Hove Albion captain Lewis Dunk is among those on nine yellow cards, alongside Bournemouth’s Jimenez and Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo. Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is also one caution away, as are Wolverhampton Wanderers trio André, João Gomes and Mosquera.
Close behind on eight bookings are several key figures, including Brighton’s Gomez, Burnley defender Walker, Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández, Everton’s Iroegbunam, Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton and Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero. Any further cautions in the coming matches could see them sidelined at a crucial point in the season.

In addition to suspensions, some players will be unavailable due to loan agreements preventing them from facing their parent clubs. Everton loanees George and Jack Grealish will miss specific fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, while Leeds United’s Buonanotte and Aston Villa’s Harvey Elliott will also sit out matches against their parent teams later in the season.
With the disciplinary threshold still in play until each club completes 32 matches, teams must carefully manage player availability. Suspensions and potential bans could play a decisive role in title races, European qualification battles, and the fight to avoid relegation in the closing weeks of the Premier League season.
