Major League Soccer’s latest disciplinary summary and player availability report has revealed a wave of suspensions and injuries set to significantly impact teams heading into Matchday 7, with several high-profile names ruled out across the league.
Among the most notable suspensions is Gerardo "Tata" Martino, the Atlanta United head coach, who will miss his side’s clash against Chicago after being sent off for physical or aggressive behaviour. His absence on the touchline adds further uncertainty for an Atlanta side already dealing with selection concerns.
On the pitch, attacking talent will also be missing, with Wilfried Zaha suspended for Charlotte FC due to yellow card accumulation. Meanwhile, defenders and key contributors such as Alvas Powell (FC Cincinnati) and Raheem Edwards (Toronto FC) are sidelined after red cards for denying goal-scoring opportunities, further weakening their respective squads.
Colorado Rapids have been hit particularly hard, with both Jackson Travis and Miguel Navarro suspended following dismissals in their previous outing. New England Revolution will also be without head coach Marko Mitrovic after he was sent off for dissent.

Beyond suspensions, injuries are piling up across the league, with several clubs facing extensive absentee lists.
Austin FC are among the worst affected, with key players Dani Pereira, Brandon Vazquez, and Owen Wolff all ruled out. Similarly, Seattle Sounders are dealing with a lengthy injury list that includes multiple first-team players, underlining ongoing fitness struggles early in the season.
Minnesota United will be without several important figures, including James Rodríguez, who is sidelined through illness, while Vancouver Whitecaps face a significant blow with captain Ryan Gauld among six players unavailable.
Defensive absences are also widespread. LAFC will be without experienced centre-back Aaron Long, while Toronto FC are missing multiple players, compounding the impact of Edwards’ suspension.
Several teams are also sweating on late fitness tests, with a number of players listed as questionable. Chicago Fire could be without attacking threat Hugo Cuypers, while Inter Miami are monitoring Facundo Mura and Sergio Reguilón ahead of their next fixture.
Real Salt Lake and Orlando City are among the clubs with multiple players facing late assessments, potentially forcing last-minute lineup changes.

In a rare positive, MLS confirmed that no players are currently one caution away from suspension, offering some stability for coaches navigating already stretched squads.
With suspensions, injuries, and fitness doubts mounting, Matchday 7 is shaping up to test squad depth across the league. Coaches may be forced to turn to fringe players and academy prospects, while tactical adjustments will likely play a key role in determining results.
As the early-season schedule intensifies, the ability to manage player fitness and discipline could prove decisive in shaping the standings over the coming weeks.
