The Football Association has charged Harry Maguire following his dismissal during Manchester United F.C.’s Premier League clash against AFC Bournemouth on Friday 20 March.
The England international was sent off in the 78th minute of the encounter, but the matter has since escalated beyond the initial red card. According to the FA, Maguire is alleged to have acted in an improper manner after leaving the field, including the use of abusive and/or insulting language or behaviour directed at the fourth official.

The charge places further scrutiny on the defender, whose conduct in the aftermath of the dismissal is now under formal review by the governing body. If found guilty, Maguire could face additional sanctions on top of the automatic suspension that accompanies a red card.
Maguire has been given until Thursday 2 April to respond to the allegations. The case will then be assessed in accordance with FA disciplinary procedures, with a decision expected after his response is submitted.
The incident adds to ongoing discussions around player conduct and respect towards match officials in English football, an area the FA has repeatedly emphasised as a priority in maintaining standards across the game.
