Sport Club Corinthians Paulista have announced the dismissal of head coach Dorival Júnior and his technical staff following a prolonged run of poor results that has left the club hovering just above the relegation zone.
The decision was confirmed shortly after Corinthians’ latest setback, a defeat to Sport Club Internacional, which extended the team’s winless streak to nine matches this season. The club currently sits 16th in the league table, dangerously close to the drop.
In a statement, Corinthians thanked Júnior and his staff for their contributions, highlighting a period that included notable silverware. Under his leadership, the club secured the Copa do Brasil in 2025 and the Rei Supercup in 2026—achievements the club said would “remain in the institution’s history.”

Despite those successes, a sharp downturn in form ultimately proved decisive. Pressure had been mounting as results deteriorated, with supporters increasingly concerned about the team’s slide down the standings.
Júnior’s recent managerial career has been turbulent. A former defensive midfielder who notably played for Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, he was appointed head coach of the Brazil national football team in January 2024. However, his tenure ended in March 2025 following a heavy 4–1 defeat to Argentina national football team, a result that matched Brazil’s joint-worst defeat in World Cup qualifying history.
Corinthians confirmed that Monday’s training session will be overseen by under-20 coach William Batista, as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement at a critical stage of the season.
