Aston Villa have been fined a total of £570,000 after admitting to multiple breaches of the Premier League's regulations governing match kick-off and restart times during the 2025-26 season.
The Premier League confirmed on Friday that it had reached a sanction agreement with the Midlands club after Villa accepted they had breached Rule L.33 on nine separate occasions. The agreement has since been ratified by an Independent Judicial Panel.
Rule L.33 requires clubs to ensure matches begin on time and that second halves restart promptly unless there is a valid reason for a delay. The league said the regulations are designed to maintain the highest professional standards, provide certainty for supporters attending matches and ensure television broadcast schedules remain on track.
According to the published sanction agreement, Aston Villa accepted responsibility for delays across nine Premier League fixtures during the campaign. The financial penalties increased with each subsequent breach under an escalating tariff agreed between the Premier League and the club.

In the agreement, Aston Villa admitted the breaches, apologised to the Premier League and its broadcast partners, and accepted the financial sanction without contest. The club also acknowledged the importance of complying with kick-off obligations going forward.
The Premier League said the punctuality rules are an important part of the competition's operational framework, ensuring consistency for clubs, supporters and broadcasters throughout the season.
